Egan Classic
The Egan Classic is a day set aside in February each year to remember and honor Mrs. Linda Egan. Mrs. Egan was the middle school foods teacher. At the age of 46, Mrs. Egan passed away from a heart attack at her home on October 11th, 2002. The middle school students and staff were greatly saddened as Mrs. Egan had taught every student here at RMS. It was decided to have a students versus the staff basketball game and call it the Egan Classic.
Tickets are sold to help raise funds for a scholarship for a Ridley High School senior who is going to study Family and Consumer Science in college. The Egan Classic has become more than a basketball game, it has become one of the biggest events at Ridley.
The eighth grade basketball teams make up the students team and staff members volunteer to play against them.
We have cheerleaders, singers, a half time show, a snack bar, a bake table, tee-shirts, door prizes, music, and a fun day for all involved!
The Egan Classic has an added charity component. The charities to which we have donated are as follows:
2022 Red Cross
2021 (No Egan Classic this year)
2020 Ridley Families in Need
2019 Cradles to Crayons
2018 Hoops for Troops
2017 No More Kids with Cancer & National Children's Cancer Society
2016 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
