AP CS Award

Ridley High School has been honored with the College Board’s AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for the 2023-24 school year. This prestigious recognition highlights the school’s dedication to expanding opportunities and access for young women in the AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) program.

Ridley High School is among an elite group of just 847 schools to receive this award for AP CSP. This achievement reflects the school’s commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment that encourages female students to explore academic and career paths in computer science—a field where women have historically been underrepresented.

Research indicates that female students who take AP computer science courses are significantly more likely to pursue computer science studies in college compared to their peers. By increasing female participation in these courses, Ridley High School is playing a vital role in building a more diverse and dynamic talent pipeline for the technology industry.

The AP Program celebrates schools that are closing equity gaps and achieving strong levels of female representation in computer science. This milestone is a testament to Ridley High School’s dedication to fostering gender diversity and preparing all students to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
