R-Thon

The R-Thon Dance returns on Saturday, February 22, 2025, bringing together Ridley High School students and the community in a night of celebration and charity. This annual event raises money and awareness for childhood cancer and cardiac research while supporting families receiving care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

As part of this year’s fundraiser, Ridley is once again selling R-Thon t-shirts to the entire community. A special Community Hour will be held from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the night of the event, where the school will honor the DeLuca, Hanson, Blohm, and Greto families—all of whom have inspiring stories to share.

Showing “Love for Lucy” with Red Shirts

This year, youth R-Thon shirts will be red in support of Lucy DeLuca, a Ridley Elementary student who is currently awaiting a heart transplant at CHOP. Since February is Heart Awareness Month, the school district is encouraging all elementary students and staff to wear these shirts to show their “Love for Lucy.”

To further raise awareness, the district has designated Friday, February 14, as “Wear Red Day.” Additionally, students and staff are encouraged to wear their red R-Thon shirts on Friday, February 21, ahead of the big event.

How to Order R-Thon Shirts

Both youth and adult-sized red shirts are available for purchase through The Locker (https://thelocker.biz), with all orders due by Tuesday, February 12. Teachers at the elementary and middle school levels are asked to share flyers with their students and parents to help spread the word.

Join the Community Hour

Families and community members are invited to attend Community Hour on February 22 to show their support and celebrate the strength of local families. Don’t miss this meaningful opportunity to give back and make a difference!
