RHS Wins REALM First Class

Ridley High School is celebrating another major achievement as its literary magazine, Windscript (Apotelesma), has once again earned the highest honor in the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) REALM Awards. For the second year in a row, the publication has received the prestigious REALM First Class distinction, the most esteemed recognition given to high school literary magazines.

The REALM (Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines) program evaluates high school literary magazines across the country, awarding those that demonstrate outstanding writing, editorial leadership, and artistic presentation. Windscript (Apotelesma) stood out among Pennsylvania schools, earning the highest distinction in the state.

Sponsor Ms. Kristen Watts, recent graduates Gianna McCarney, Sarah Baker, and current students Juliana Strunk, Gabrielle Grady, Sarah Wiegand, Delina Gebremichael, and Alaina Buecheler are just a few who make up the winning Ridley High School Magazine team. From September to May, they and many other members put in endless hours to produce a book that conveys the spirit of the high school's creative community while simultaneously showcasing the contributors' artistic abilities.

Alaina Buecheler says “Being in Windscript has been a nurturing experience, for both my writing and soul. I've made close bonds with club members, received helpful feedback on my pieces, and aided others in the creation of their own works. ”

Windscript (Apotelesma) features a collection of student-created poetry, short stories, essays, and artwork, showcasing the diverse voices and artistic expression of Ridley students. The magazine’s continued success highlights the school’s culture of literary creativity and excellence.

As Ridley High School celebrates this remarkable achievement, the Windscript (Apotelesma) team looks forward to continuing its tradition of producing top-quality literary work.
