REALM Award

Windscript Wins Highest Honor for Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) Contest

Ridley High School is proud to announce that its magazine, Windscript, has been awarded the highest honor in the prestigious Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines REALM Contest. This accolade is a testament to the outstanding creativity, talent, and dedication of the students involved in producing the magazine.

The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories, Canada, and American schools abroad are eligible to nominate magazines.

The winning Ridley High School Magazine team comprises sponsor Ms. Kristen Watts, recent graduates Mia McKinney, Matthew Muller, Sarah Persia; and this year’s Senior editors, Gianna McCarney and Sarah Baker; as well as Junior editors, Juliana Strunk and Gabrielle Grady. They, along with numerous other staff worked tirelessly from September to May in order to create a publication that not only showcases the artistic prowess of the contributors but also captures the essence of the high school's creative community.

Sponsor Ms. Kristen Watts would like to say, “I am so proud of the Windscript staff, our former editors, and all of the dedicated students who make the effort to write, create, and submit. I would also like to thank the administration for their continued support of Ridley’s arts, the English department and our chairperson Amy Covert for their support and efforts, as well as the Art department. Even though it’s a literary magazine, much of the artwork created for their classes are also included in the magazine,” said Ms. Kristin Watts, Windscript magazine sponsor.

The magazine features a diverse range of artistic expressions, including visual art, poetry, short stories, and other literary forms. The winning entry demonstrated a keen understanding of artistic techniques, a profound exploration of themes, and a unique perspective that resonated with the judges.

This achievement not only highlights the artistic excellence within Ridley High School, but also serves as an inspiration to students aspiring to pursue their creative passions. The recognition from the REALM Contest reinforces the importance of fostering creativity and artistic expression within educational institutions.
